Please describe how polio has changed your life.
Although I appeared to have a complete recovery, for some reason, I always worried about the possibility of later effects. In more recent years I have suffered from an increasing problem with Sciatica, mostly in my left leg, and now have to use a cane and must take Hydrocodone for the pain. I am otherwise healthy and have no other medications. But, because of the pain I am quite limited in physical activities.

Of course, I can not be certain that I have Post-Polio Syndrome and I have been unable to find a doctor who can really help me.

Wil, where do you live?  I am in Sacramento California and see a doctor with expertise in polio.  Margaret Portwood MD is a physiatrist (fizz-i-a-trist, not sigh ki a trist!) and I have seen her over the years for support.  A physiatrist specializes in rehabilitation therapy.  Maybe you could check in your area for doctors in that area of practice.  I am so thankful I found her.
