I enjoy walking.  Here in the Rocky Mountains I can't walk during the winter.  To much snow & ice.  But come March the snow & ice melt off the streets & sidewalks quickley.  So I've begun very short walks for now.  Between winter & recent surgery I'm totally out of shape.  As Polio victims we have to take everything one step at a time.  So I'm walking a little each day.  With both legs in braces & a forearm crutch, I can't walk quickley anyway.  By the time the warm weather comes I hope to be ready for walking on simple nature trails.  Hugs & Smiles, Janice

Both my braces are like yours.  Knees down to foot beds.  Yuk !!!!!  Ugly  !!!!

I wear New Balance sneakers & shoes with my braces.  They have box toes & roll-bars.  I have a pair of white/gray mess ventilated sneakers, a black leather pair,  a white leather pair, and a tan leather pair.  Tied shoes & braces, not very feminine. However, It's okay, because I can walk comfortably. Without braces I'm in big trouble. Hugs & Smiles, Janice

I wish I had a magic wand.  Then I'd grant everyone's wishes and Polio would leave our bodies.  We would all be as good as new.  Like you I'm exhausted, slowly gaining weight, health problems requiring surgeries, and weaker than I'd like. Depression  snaps at my heels. Braces and a forearm crutch complete the picture.  BUT, we are all more than Polio.  I love to read, explore the world on my computer, take easy hikes & I love taking photos. I adore spending time with my 11 precious grandchildren. Polio Today has brought so much to my life.  Online friends and information. Fill your life with the activites that make you smile, and share your life with our Polio family.  Your not alone.
