I recovered sufficiently for military service in 1961 but started experiencing pain in boot camp and while serving aboard an aircraft carrier. I thought I was just out of shape. As the years went by I noticed extreme pain after hard work. By 1992 I used a cane. Then two canes. Then added a KAFO. Followed by forearm crutches and a wheel chair for longer distances. Now I use a mobility scooter. PPS is quite an inconvenience, but I keep as active as I can and find a way to do what I want to do.
