about 1990 at age 40, but maybe a few years earlier.
Please describe how polio has changed your life.
I had to retire early at age 56. Now at 67 I am very fatigued and have lost much mobility, although still able to walk about a mile. The other problem is my lack of mental capabilities - I was an electrical engineer.
I have been misdiagnosed for 25 years and I still do not have a definitive diagnosis from Kaiser doctors. I have been tested for everything and diagnosed with FMS/CFS/depression, yet multiple doctors/rheumatologists have told me I have the most atypical case of FMS they have seen. However, this is the only diagnosis that ties together my health problems and pain when I was an infant / young child to the pain and problems I am having now. I was not diagnosed with polio as an infant.
