I belonged to a group in Pensacola FL, however, due to the post polio syndrome I had to move. There is not one near me. I have not tried online.
Please describe how polio has changed your life.
I was only 4 when I was in the hospital for a year and 3 months. The experience of being taking from my family and not having any family nearby was trauma for me. I remember things they had to do that was very scary to me. I believe due to this and another serious medical that I have has held me back. I was so shy and would not take up for myself. However, no one bailed me out. Although, it was very difficult I managed to hold a job at a large credit union for many years. I had to retire sooner than expected due to the post polio syndrome. There is a short story about me in the Pocahontas Times. My story comes up if you google my name, JoAnn Underwood, McCoy. It is under one step at a time. I have also written a short story of my illness for a class that I once took. I only have it in my scrape book. Polio crippled me but made me strong in another way.
How did you find out about
I was looking up on google as to why i am having more and stronger jerks in my body and leg.
