POST-POLIO HEALTH INTERNATIONAL
SOUTHERN NEVADA ASSOCIATION OF POLIO SURVIVORS..an almost useless and pathetic social group.
Please describe how polio has changed your life.
IT IS THE GREATEST THING AND PERHAPS THE WORST THING. CAUSED ME TO WAKE UP AND LIVE AND SURVIVE BECAUSE I HAD TO. NOW I WANT TO CAUSE ALL PPS'ERS OR POLIOS TO STOP FEELING SORRY FOR OUR PPS AND TO OVERCOME OUR FEELING THAT WE CAN INDIVIDUALLY OVERCOME THIS PPS THING. WE CAN'T AND WE NEED TO RE-ENERGIZE THE SOURCES OF OUR HELP, NAMELY OUR LAME DOCTORS THAT MAY NEED TO BE FORCED INTO FULFILLING THEIR HYPOCRATIC OATHES ONCE AGAIN AND TO GET OBAMA ON OUR BANDWAGON POLITICALLY. HELP CAN ONLY BE GOTTEN BY OURSELVES IN ORDER TO SURVIVE AND THRIVE. AS TO OUR PPS LEADERS, WE KNOW THEY ARE DYING OFF, SO LET'S SEE TO IT THAT WE OVERCOME THIS FACT OF LIFE AND MOVE TO FIND OTHER DOCTORS, ETC., THAT WANT TO BE HUMAN AND HELP US, UNTIL WE GO TOO.
Hi Emanuel, thank you for stopping by and posting a comment. I do not belong to a support group. I actually was the President of a Polio Survivors group for a couple years. I'm an artist and always very busy with that. No, I don't have any breathing problems. I too had bulbar polio.
Hello Emanuel, I use a power chair too, however, I cannot find a doctor in this state who will learn about PPS enough to acknowledge the need for bi-level ventilators for polios with breathing problems. In that respect, although it's difficult in the US from all accounts, here it's impossible.
