I have always heard that if one is hit with Post Polio Sequale that may take place between 30 and 35 years after contracting polio. My polio was in 1949 when I was 17 years old. PPS hit me 54 years later in 2003. My left foot dropped requiring a brace, blood circulation in my lower left leg and foot dropped severely, the quadracept muscle group on the front of my upper legs became painful (successfully treated by taking leuco-carnitine), My diaphragm greatly weakened, and my vocal folds (vocal cords) went flat. I was a singer, so the last two listed were really important.
